God Comforts Us 4/22/21

22 April 2021– Manna by Dorothy and Tony Callies

Theme: God Comforts Us

2 Corinthians 1:4 “[God] comforts us in all our troubles, so that we comfort those in any trouble.”   (Summary means get to the points or covering the points)

             Summary devotion some *part are from ‘Our Daily Bread’ written by Alyson Kieda.

            *The story of a kitten who was very ill, the owner dropped him off at an animal shelter, thinking this kitten will not get well. When the kitten got well, the vet adopted him and live at the shelter and now spends his days “comforting” cats and dogs—just out of surgery or recovering from an illness—through his warm presence and gentle purr.

            Dot: It is a very heart touching to know that the story of this cat God is telling us that “God is like that cat” soothing which means to bring comfort to us with warm presence and just like a cat with a “gentle purr.” (aww)

            Giving this picture about the cat help us to understand that God cares and “comforts us in all our troubles.” On TV with several advertisements, I have seen cats have shown the loving embrace to their owners that is very heart touching and it just melt my heart. Just picture this God that God is doing it to you. I love that thoughts.

            *God, our Father comforts us, and when we experienced His comfort, He wants us to be able to comfort others who are going through hard time.

            Dot: We often sees this in Face Book that friends share their thoughts of prayers and try to comfort them.  Just remember that *our Savior who really felt that pain and suffered for us, is more than able to comfort us in our suffering and problems. Jesus helps us through our pain and prepare us to do the same for others.

            *Prayer: Dear Father God, thank You for Your comforting presence in my pain and sorrow.  Help me in turn to be a comfort to others. [End of summary devotion]

            I remember the song, The Comforter Has Come. It touches my heart.

Song: The Comforter Has Come

Lo, the great King of kings,

     with healing in His wings,

To every captive soul

     a full deliverance brings;

And tho’ the vacant cells (empty jails)

     the song of triumph rings;

The Comforter has come!

Chorus:

The Comforter has come,

The Comforter has come,

The Holy Ghost from heaven.

The Father’s promise given;

O spread the tidings around,

Wherever man is found,

The Comforter has come!

[Frank Bottome, Sing His Praise]

May God bless you today!

Prayer Request 4/12/21

        Update news about Tony Callies since last Friday meeting (4/9/21) with PA Orthopedic. The x-ray shows two parts: one area broken bone is not connected and every time Tony moved and put pressure on his right shoulder it makes noise like clicking sounds. The other area shows improvement very slowly. So I would appreciate your prayers for Tony's bone to be connected. It would take a miracle and nothing is too hard for God to heal Tony in that one area. His right hip needs to be strengthened so he could walk comfortably. I thank God daily for giving him strengthen so I'm asking you to join with me in this prayer for Tony. Thank you. Dorothy

Strengthen You 6/18-19/20

18-19 June 2020 - I Will Strength You –
Manna from Dorothy & Tony Callies

Isaiah 41:10
KJV: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I WILL STRENGTH THEE; yea I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
NCV: So don't worry, because I am with you. Don't be afraid, because I am your God. I WILL MAKE YOU STRONG and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you.
AMP: Fear not; [there is nothing to fear] for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed [loss of courage because of fear of what is about to happen; trouble greatly], for I am your God. I WILL STRENGTHEN AND HARDEN YOU [to difficulties]; yes, I will help you; yes I will hold you up and retain [hold; keep] you with My victorious right hand of rightness and justice.

The word "harden" means He will make us able to "endure" anything we face. He will give us grace and strength when we need to face all the things that are happening around us. God will help us through times of crises and He will be our peace. He will also support us and be our advocate, like a lawyer in time of need. God begins doing a good work in us, and let us trust Him to continue until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.

Song: Trust in the Lord
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not to your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him and
He shall direct your path.
[acknowledge=get to know]

May the Lord shine His face upon you and bless you today.

His Special Favor 7/19/19

July 19 2019 His Special Favor – Manna by Dorothy & Tony Callies

“God saved you by His special favor when you believed.” Ephesians 2:8, NLT.
[Picked verse for the day from the jar].

Part of the writing is summary from the Daily Bread devotion:
We are encouraged to pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. (Hebrews 2:1)

We have a good reason to stay close.  The author of Hebrews says that while the Mosaic (Moses’) law was reliable and needed to be obeyed, the message of the Son of God is far superior.  Which means that Jesus came and satisfied the demands of the law, so now our Salvation is “so great” in Jesus that He should not be ignored. (Heb. 2:3).

Question: What will help us stay anchored in Jesus?
Answer:  Spending time talking with Him in prayer and reading His Word, confessing our wrongs to Him, and interacting with other followers of Jesus can help us stay anchored in Him—He will be faithful to support us.

The story of devotion was about a family who was at the beach resort for snacks, watching the boats at the seashore, were anchored to prevent them from drifting away, they noticed one boat drifting away.  No one pay attention to it and slowly making its way out to sea.  So Hebrews 2:1 was given to believers, “We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard so that we do not drift away.”

May the Lord bless you today!

Words Carry Power PM 7/11/19

For Prayer Meeting

Theme: YOUR WORDS CARRY POWER!

Where the word of a king is, there is power … Ecclesiastes 8:4

In Bible times, a king’s word carried tremendous power.

Do you know that we are kings? The Bible tells us that Jesus has washed us from our sins with His blood and made us kings (see Revelation 1:5–6). And as kings in Christ, our words carry power too.

When we place our hands on a sick person and say, “Be healed,” the person is healed. When we lay hands on our children and say, “Be blessed,” our children are blessed. There is power in our words because they are the words of kings!

Start saying, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Beloved, remember that as a king, what you say will come to pass because where the word of a king is, there is power. So learn to say what God says about you in His Word and see His promises come to pass in your life!

Short Notes for 7/6/2019

July 6, 2019 – Short Written Notes from Journal by Dorothy Callies

Which Way? Short notes from Our Daily Bread
Hosea 14:9 “The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them.”

Asking God for directions is important. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart . . . and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-9

Warning Scripture tells us, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 16:25

Short notes from Character Devotion: Walk with Your Creator!
                        Integrity means total honesty and sincerity.
Integrity is built slowly over a lifetime.  Live each day with discipline, honesty and faith.  When we obey Him, blessings flows . . .

Character is what we are when nobody is watching.  Walk with your Creator, your character will take care of itself.  Greatest possession is being honest.  Its result of self-discipline and inner trust in God.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord for speaking to me this morning. Calvary—healing flows –I claimed it in Jesus’ name. Amen!
